How OMGHey works
OMGHey is a scheduled live app. Instead of an infinite feed, everyone shows up at the same moment, gets matched with one real person nearby, and talks for a few minutes. If both people want more, the conversation continues. If not, it ends cleanly and you move on.
1. Download and verify
Install OMGHey from the App Store and sign up. Accounts are verified — there are no anonymous lurkers. The college experience uses .edu verification; the general experience uses standard identity checks.
2. Build a real profile
Add a clear photo of your face, a short bio, and your basic preferences for who you want to be matched with. Profiles are intentionally light — they exist to make matching honest, not to be scrolled.
3. Show up at 9 PM local time
OMGHey runs on a live schedule: Sunday night is video, Wednesday night is text. Both windows open at 9 PM in your local time zone. Open the app, tap Go Live, and you're in the matching pool.
4. Talk to your match
The system pairs you with one other live user near you and opens a private chat — text on Wednesday, video on Sunday. You don't browse profiles first. The conversation starts immediately, which is the whole point.
5. Match, extend, or skip
When the timer ends you have three options: match (keep talking after the live window), extend (add more time right now), or skip (go back to the pool and meet someone new). Skips are silent; matches are mutual.
What happens after a match
Matches move into a private thread in your matches list. You can keep talking past 9 PM, swap numbers, plan to meet, or just enjoy the conversation. There's no expiration on a mutual match.
Why a scheduled live window
Always-on chat apps are usually empty. By concentrating everyone at 9 PM on two specific nights, OMGHey makes matches happen in seconds, conversations feel busy, and the experience feels like an event instead of a feed.
