Live Text on OMGHey
Live Text is OMGHey's Wednesday-night format. At 9 PM in your local time zone, you tap Go Live and get paired with one real person nearby for a private, real-time text chat — no profile-scrolling, no waiting, no opener anxiety.
How it works
- Open the app at 9 PM local on Wednesday and tap Go Live.
- The matching engine pairs you with a nearby live user.
- A private text thread opens. The conversation starts immediately.
- At the end of the round, choose match, extend, or skip.
Why text instead of video
Not every night is a video night. Text lowers the activation energy — no camera, no lighting, no audio. Wednesday is intentionally the calmer of the two live nights: more thoughtful, more clever, less pressure.
How long are text chats?
The default round is short — long enough to find out if there's anything there, short enough that you don't feel trapped if there isn't. If both people want more time, the chat extends.
What happens if you match
A mutual match moves the conversation into your matches list. You can keep texting after the live window closes — there's no expiration.
Tips for a good live text chat
- Skip the small talk — you have minutes, not days. Ask something real.
- Match the energy of the other person, then push it slightly up.
- If the chat is dying, tap skip cleanly. Skips are silent.
- If it's working, extend before the timer runs out.
